Help Whisky gone cloudy

Just arrived at the boat for the bank holiday weekend. The boat is cold but dry and my lovely bottle of Old Pulteney has gone cloudy. It looks like a bad urine sample. Is this normal in cold conditions. Don't want a bad gut or lack of Amber nectar. Is this cloudy effect normal in cold conditions ?

If its cask strength and has not been chill filtered its had water added !

Hi. Your dear bottle has whisky that is not chill filtered. That means that all natural fatsand oils are still in the whisky and makes it more tasty.
The oils and fats can make the whisky cloudy when cold or reduced with water below some 46%.
Think of cold olive oil.
It doesn't change the taste. Get it to room temperature and it will most likely get clearer.

I think your whisky should be disposed of quickly. It is obviously of unsaleable quality, your concern is indicative that you are very unsure. Send it to me and I will ensure that it is disposed of correctly

Sounds like a classic case of biological contamination. You could either add Grotamar or polish by passing through a very fine filter. I find kidneys work very well ........

As there is no reply today from the OP it sounds like he took your recommendations and is either far too sick to comment about the "rotten" whiskey or is far to sick to comment because there is no more "fine" whiskey.

Many thanks for the insights and offers of help. I stood the bottle in a bowl of warm water and it cleared. It is now considwrably less full than it was as I don't want to give it chance to go off !

Shows what filthy stuff whiskey is - would never happen with gin. Perhaps thats why Scots dronk more gin than they do whiskey.

Correct Irish spelling used I believe . After all thats where it originated isnt it?
