Can any one help my water pump is leaking on my aq 21 4 clynder volvo.Volvo say no parts are available on a engine this old.Is there any were that i can get the pump fitted with new seals. The bearings look ok.If i cant solve this probelm i will have to reengine

Try your local bearing supply company, they will usually match any kind of seal.
Although pump is obsolete is there not an alternative pump made as a replacement?

Take the pump apart, take the seals out and measure them, inside and outside diameters and thickness. Note if the seal is single or twin lip (usually single). Phone BRT bearings in Wisbech. They keep big stocks of seals and bearings. Get it sent out, or if it helps at all i can pick one up and take it to Shotley on Saturday. (obviously depends on where you live:))

Thanks once again Paul I will strip it down tomrrow.I think i will sleep tonight had the horrors of the cost of reengine last night .I am at Tichmarsh Marina often on the Orwel boat is Sara lee would like to meet you some dayJohn.

The engine is based on a Indenor diesel , design widely used in both vans and in the Peugeot 504 & 604..., so parts should be available. If you have a well established Peugeot dealer around, and particularly if the handle some of the commercial vehicles etc., they may be able of helping you.

Good luck...

My pleasure John, we'll keep an eye out for your boat, can't be hard to miss a P32 :) Next time you're visiting The Orwell, let me know, if we're down at the same time, we'll have to meet for a pint.

Might be a trek to collect from Shotley, but if it helps in any way, let me know. Also, not 100% certain if they deliver, think they do, but again, if they don't and you need seals collecting and posting on, not a problem.

so you are truly a knight of the round table!! there was I thinking you were being facescious when you offered to clean my engine bay up.

This top comes up many times.

The engine was fitted to mark 2 granada and sierras 2.3 diesel.

However the fresh water pump is a one off and purely designed for the engine to marry up to the heat exchanger, i have tried to match up the bearings, yes no problem but the seals especially the mechanical one is another story, even serk services failed to help me out last time, so I just fitted new bearings and the seal went again, id try that if there is play in the shaft.

p32 weter pump

Hi all thanks for your input.I rang Lancing Marine in Brighton today much to my relief thay will refurb the pump for me.Thay say thay can do almost any pump as long as the casting is ok.I had a very interesting conversation with a helpfull staff member. He said that if i wanted to reengine thay do a compleat marine kit for the Ford Transit 85 hp engine all bolt on.This he calculated would give me 14 to 15 knots, much quiter more fuel efficent. It is of course a much more modern design engine & for an extra £1300 i can have a turbo kit putting them up to 110 hp giving me 17 knots much inproved on my currant 6 to 10 knots with a tide behind me.I must admit we was thinking of changing the boat at the end of the year . I do like our 32 and its cheaper than puting another £20000 into a new boat.Much food for thought any input would be welcome.Thank you Paule for your kind offer of help.you will get a pint out of me next time i am on the Orwel John

A princess 32 with 2 x 130hp volvos will plane easy and give 26 knots flat out on single prop 280 drives, friend hd one some years back its for sale now at newark marina if anyones interested.

H,mm my 2 x ADQ40As with 135hp on 280Ts gave me about 16 knots max @ 3400 about after going back in the water with new A/F and refurbed props, water and fuel were minimal. ?

Your 33 is a lot heavier than a 32 and has a y hull I presume, seriously I did not believe it myself hen I took it out on trial, I did see the floor flexing in the front cabin at one time though!!.

......NO WAY do not be led up the garden path, we got 360 horses, 180 each side, and only get 19 WOT......

Very different hull to yours .. the P32 is very slim hull and sterndrive, and I have personally seen a single 110 Hp.. P32 with duo prop do 18 knots... very light admittedly, but still did that on high tide, flat sea and GPS to log....

I had a Apollo 32 with 2 x 120 Fords ... slim hull again (3.12 M max beam), but this with shafts ... she did 21 light, cruised fully loaded at 16 - 17 knots.

p32 reengine

It looks like i am going to get a lot more knots than i have now i know that the transit has coded keys with the imobliser in the fuel pump how do i get around this any one know. The ford engines i think will be much easer to get parts for than my old volvos quiter and better on derv i think this is maybe a good way for me to go.Any one want to buy a pair of aq21 75 hp ish volvos with recon water pump and clynder heads

Apologies

I bow to your superior knowledge, had I known that we were talking "legs" I would not have responded. I await the "help" my leg has exploded post.

The chances of 14-15 knots from two 85hp engine in a P32 is............................ nil.

As they won't develop enough power to get it on the plane, top speed will be exactly the same as it is now.

If you put the turbo kits on, i'm still not convinced it'll do anything like 17 knots. When they were built new, the only P32's that were capable of fast planing speeds were the ones fitted with twin six's.

I reckon a more realistic expectation would be 14-15 knots cruise from the twin 110 HP turbo engines. providing you keep the boat light, if SWBO has it full of kelter, back to 8 knots.
