my dads next door neighbours brat has allegedly "only pressed cont,alt,del." but now the monitor display is upside down. and short of turning the monitor upside down he can't get it the right way up again. i told him stampng on the childs head might help stop it happening again....but he really wants the screen the right way up....any thoughts?

Don't think they have pressed ctrl alt delete. They've done it on purpose.

If it's a samsung flatscreen then rightclick on the desktop which will lead to softare to allow swivel of the screen.

Otherwise (on any computer with windows) they have captured the screen, inverted the image in MS paint, and then set that as the wallpaper. Solution: Right-click anywhere on the desktop. Select "Active desktop", and turn off the option to "View as web page". Right click again, and this time select "Properties" and "Effects" to switch off the option "Hide icons when viewed on a web page".

well in that case it's not a screen capture - there is some swivel software for the screen being mounted on ceilings etc. Rightclick on the desktop to find the software for unswiveling. Or er mount it on the ceiling. Or unscrew the back and remount the screen the other way up if poss (usually is).

Hi M8..here at the UNi of Greenwich we had the same thing (cleaver bloody students)..On the screen bottom RIGHT should be a monitor icon..right click and there is a 180degre option click and aply...it worked for us...good luck

this is not a technical issue, it's a child control problem.

"if that computer isn't fixed in the next 5 minutes your skateboard/trainers/game boy go to oxfam..." is a good start.

you may not be able to lock the little b******s out of the computer but you still control the fuse box!

There used to be a little "toy" program which did this - there were no "settings" wrong, but the program "inverted" the output of the display in software. Is it possible this has happened - it was some years ago I saw this and my memory could be playing me up....

There is a piece of software called Pivot which does this - made by Portrait I believe. Their site is......

We use it on exhibition stands to make plasma screens work portrait fashion!
