my kindle used onboard has given up the ghost !! It won't turn on so hoping that its the battery gone duff . I can't find anyway into it . Anyone got any ideas how to get into the batteries ? it's an Amazon one ,no model etc . The back seems to be sealed unlike a mobile phone .

cheers

I'm so glad I've got the internet. You should try it ;).

But try this first:
If it's frozen it might just need a restart. Hold the power button to the on position for a slow count of 30. Then leave it alone for 5 mins and don't press any buttons in this time. Then try charging it again.

complain vigorously & they might send you a new kindle. they did with swmbo`s wouldn't charge but I did get out of my pram a tad :o. I then sussed why the original wouldn't charge, it was the bit in the centre of the socket had got misplaced b/ off centres have you tried "The Lounge" for non boaty stuff

Seems as if the guys with a bit of tech knowledge hang about here whereas the lounge seem to be full of t*ssers. Never go there!

I love the idea of the 30 second re-start. In my wife's case (original Kindle with keyboard) I left it alone for a week until the battery ran down and recharged it and it came back to life.

My kindle screen "died" (out 0f guarantee). Amazon replaced it FOC and asked for the broken one to be returned. they even sent a pre-paid envelope for it. I didn't need to get cross with them.

You know the reason the Lounge was created was to stop t*ssers cluttering up the boating forums with inane question about things like Kindles?

I wouldn't expect you understand why I posted here . That would be like expecting a cat to understand quantum physics, to put it bluntly you lack the hardware.
