Can someone help me identify/source hydraulic/fuel pipe fittings please? I want to connect the style of hose end fitting in the pictures below to a piece of kit that has a 1/4 NPT female port. The fitting pictured below has a "sharper" cone than the 45 degree cones you see on plenty of hydraulics, and it has an O ring. The lock nut is M18 x 1.5. The bore is around 1/4-3/8 inch. So:

1. Can anyone tell me the name of the fitting below so I can google it?

2. Does it mate with this fitting from Asap? I cannot see whether the Asap fitting has a conical surface on the inside of the fitting - picture isn't clear http://www.asap-supplies.com/marine...r-fittings/racor-union-adaptor-fitting-301982

3. Can anyone post a link to an online supplier of a nipple that has one end with a male M18 x 1.5 thread+a female cone to accept the above style fitting, and the other end with 1/4 NPT male? In stainless steel or brass. And preferably in both a straight version and a 90 degree elbow version. I much prefer an online supplier; I don't want to schlepp to a branch of Pirtek

This is for my generator fuel supply and return. I want to interrupt the pipes and install maretron flow sensors, which have 1/4 NPT female ports. I have some extra OEM fuel hoses as pictured below with these nice end fittings and I want use them, not cut the rubber hoses and use jubilee clip style fittings. Thanks for any pointers

it is a metric fitting and the cones like that with the O ring generally seal in either type of metric fitting. That type of fitting from ASAP ( called a bush) wont have a cone inside it but isnt it a male/male adaptor you are needing ? I am a bit confused with your description , if the hole is 1/4 npt , why do you want an adaptor with an M18 male thread ? I think you need a 1/4 npt Male x M18 male adaptor ?

Apologies , re-read your post and this is what you have asked for. Let me see what I can find

Many thanks for all the replies. SA, that's perfect thank you. I just sent you a shopping list request for 8 items please (6 straight, 2 elbow) on your web contact form and left my cr card number with your assistant

It seems you are sorted, but you might find this website useful for future use ...

Yep many thanks but there are a million items on there! I don't even know the generic name for a fitting that has a cone, O ring and M18x1.5 locking nut so I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. Do you know the generic name for the fitting type in my picture?

I also didn't know the gender of the fitting in my picture - the cone is male and the nut has a female thread. SA tells me it's female!

All that said, I've placed an order with the very efficient www.hydraulicpartsdirect.co.uk so I'm all ok, (if not any wiser about the name of these fittings!)

Thanks all

Ah many thanks sh6k. "24degree cone with o ring" is what I need. It seems there isn't a snappy name or bit of jargon for this then.

The gender thing is very confusing, at least to an amateur customer. The page you linked to says "female cone seat" but the only female thing in the picture is the thread in the lock nut. The cone is male and there is ever a "seat" on a male cone. All very confusing to me as a person who doesn't spec hydraulics that often. Ho hum - I've requested the parts from SR anyway so should be good to go soon

Hi John,
Is this what you were looking for?

Hi Anthony. Yes it is (plus an elbow version) - well I cannot tell the dims from your picture but if the bigger end is M18 x 1.5 thread+a female cone to accept my o-ring+cone style fitting, and the smaller end is 1/4 NPT, then it is what I am trying to buy.

What I'm asking for is a link to an online supply of them, or the "jargon word" for these o-ringed cones so I can google them and find an online supplier

SA has sent me some brass ones. Do you guys stock them? Obviously they are relevant for genset fuel systems. What material?

Best wishes

OK that's fine. I'll be happy to have those for inside e/room use and if I end up finding s/steel later then so much the better.

Thanks as regards the jargon, though "stud coupling" covers a range of things. What is the name of the form of joint that has the tapered/conical o-ringed mating surfaces and the compression nut?
