Hi all, looking for a little help...
Does anyone know what make/model this boat is?
I really like the style of vessel but not yet managed to have a chat with the owner.

Yep Macgregor 26, they are universally hated by both power boaters and sailors because they are neither fish nor foul. However most people that comment will have never even seen one, let alone sailed/helmed one.

We have one in the family, and while not being a perfect boat by a long shot, it does a really good job for the requirements we have of it.

Thats it! Thanks for the ID - it may well be that some don't like them but they do appear to be a great design as a crossover vessel.
Having looked at the McGregor website, it does seem a little claustrophobic in the cabin.
Whats it like to stay aboard Mark?

The cabin is low for a 26 footer and its very very plasticy, the heads is also a tight squeeze.

On the positive side there are 3 double berths and the stern berth in particular is huge. It sails like a dinghy and flat out you will be lucky to get 16kts in cruising trim under power.

But in terms of bang for your buck you will struggle to beat it, 10k buys you a clean one with a modern 4 stroke 50hp on the back. They can be towed easily behind a family saloon and are genuine trailer sailors with a dedicated mast raising system. All boats are a comproimise, this more than most, but for us it does everything we ask.

I see one of these every year around Kefalonia, I think it is owned by two Italians, I can only presume that they trailer it from Italy. It would seem quite a good choice for sailing in the sheltered seas between the islands, sail when the winds are favourable, switch to 50hp when they are not. What more could you ask for? I am sure that they are very happy with their choice.
