and what sort of paperwork will I need to provide for the purchaser? I have the Part 1 reg document, the Vat Paid form. I forgot to send a receipt for the deposit, but that has cleared. Obviously a 'Bill of Sale' is needed. Will it need to be special in any way? Or will a typed sheet with the relevant details suffice? Do I need to have witnessed signatures as I did when buying our new one- (just paid for her today). I await your experience and advice

If it's part 1 registered there's a standard Bill of Sale here which you can download and which needs to be submitted to the Registry of Shipping and Seamen in Cardiff.

A part 1 vessel has 64 shares. You would fill it in to say transfer "All 64 shares" in the relevant box. Once processed by RSS, it will be stamped and sent to the new owner. He will need this to make a change of registration.

I've done this a few times, so PM me if there's anything you don't understand in the form. It's normal practice to let the new owner have originals of any previous Bills of Sale in your possesion.
