Ok Not frustratedddddddd really.:mad::mad:

Boat all loaded up, ready for tomorrow great day, first weekend for 4 weeks weather very promising, just rang up torquay to book trailer and boat in and now they cant have me. due to a massive turn out for the power boating, my 24 ft trailer has no where to go. Did ring up a week ago and spoke to another member off staff who advised me i was ok to come down:mad::mad::mad::mad:

They have mentioned that i can use the slip way but my trailer would have to be parked at dadyhole plain????? when i asked if this was owned by the harbour, its not its owned by the council, so my thinking is the council will have the right to remove my trailer and any one else and fine them because it is not officially a trailer park.

Have rang paignton and really its a no go because of the tides, and restriction with the trailer size.

So what options did i have, teignmouth is out as not safe for kids as there's no pontoon for me to load them on, or do i say sod it and go to weymouth with the boat.

any ideas, any one

Plymouth QAB marina has lovely gentle slip, pontoon alongside, easy to get to but a bit further than Torquay. They charge for self launch but it includes car and trailer parking.
Boatlaunch.co.uk website is useful for other slips in the area.

Hi Mark,

Have you considered Brixham? Wide slipway, trailer park etc and you can pick kids up from the visitor pontoon. It's the other side of marina berths, but only about a minutes walk (you'll have to go around the long way in the boat however...) Fees etc same as Torquay and a great location. Roads are a bit of a squeeze, but do-able with bigger boats than yours.

I'd offer you trailer parking, but a long way out of town and not much room now - too many 'projects' :D

chers robin:)

Have given up:(, Brixham for us last took 2 rs 20 min in the week day when we went to fishcombe cove for a beach day. Just to long with the boat, then by the time we would launch and park would be 3+ hrs. just not worth it.

I'm more pi...ed off with torquay, clearly said in the week all ok for our boat and trailer just turn up early before 11.00, lucky i rang up today, wont going to ring.

Starting to think a bigger boat and moored up would be alot easier, this has happened twice now this year and when the weather has been good just really p.ss..d off with them.:mad:

even people who have paid for the year will be turned away, i think the council should make so changes to the current system including parking and an additional reconnised trailer park

aaahhhhahahahahahahahahah sorry

Time to drive to brixham really not much different to torquay + trailer park next to slipway. Easy water access to pontoon & nearby beaches at fishcombe, elbury, broadsands.

have you thought aboat Dartmouth or salcombe? either way its a lot safer than Torquay was today, power boats whizzing around everywhere!

We have two young kids aged 3 and 4 they wont stand long on the boat 2 hours in the car is a push, we were just going to have a chill on the boat day and watch the racing in torquay bay, i was working when cowes was on so could not get there.

Boat all packed away, see what next weekend brings, hopefully the weather holds finger crossed.

Marina or Harbour master

Are you trying to book with the harbour master or the Marina?

Torquay & Brixham Marina's are both busy at the moment but there are spaces available, we've tried a couple of times to call at Brixham for a short stay of around 2 hours and been turned away as the events pontoon is booked out for a rally, so much for MDL's freedom berthing, however we rafted alongside vigilence on the Town jetty FOC on Friday, just need to call Brixham Harbour (not Marina) to get berthing instruction.

I know it's possibly too late but you could have booked an overnight berth in Torquay marina,http://www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/mdl-torquay-marina/ we've been here for over a fortnight with a vacant berth alongside for at least 10 days during that time, including this weekend, think the marina staff have been confused as to whether you needed a berth (available) or events pontoon (not available, due to a pre booked event).

Trailer storage, Dartside Quay possibly http://www.mdlmarinas.co.uk/mdl-dartside-quay/ or give Torbay Seaways a call, http://www.torbayseaways.co.uk/index.html

If it's any consolation the weather Thursday was glorious sunshine but choppy sea conditions (easterlies) and the powerboat racing was spectacular but short as the conditions were such that it became dangerous (but great as a spectator).
Friday was a great day, sunny and better sea conditions over towards Brixham as the wind had shifted to Southerlies, Today (Saturday) overcast but warm, wind again Southerlies, powerboat racing going well.

If you can get here then book an overnight berth for some fun tomorrow.
