Good Evening All,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out.

I'm looking for a hatch for above my V birth as the current one is way past saving it has the inside measurements of 40x40cm with a rim with screws adding 3cm
I've attached a little diagram explaining the sizes abit better.
I'm trying to keep it as reasonably priced as possible but I cant even find one with the same dimensions and I don't wan't to cut a bigger hole If I can help it.
I've checked all my usual places, force4, marine superstore ect.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Seateach do indeed have a good range of hatches by various makes.

However do double check and confirm their dimensions any way you can, ideally measuring for yourself; dimensions have not proved their strong point in the past, a few years ago a chum bought their ' Houdini direct replacement ' to find it required a different size hole in the deck and had different bolt spacings - apart from that it was a direct replacement !

As I say they do have a good range, at good prices once sure of the size...

OTOH I ordered a Gebo Houdini "drop in" replacement from Seateach and it did just that...

Lewmar size 44 is the nearest to your size I've found but it's not a drop in. Houdini don't do them in that size either. But I've only looked at their website so I suggest you ring them and talk to an actual person. Websites often don't have the full range and lewmars seems particularly hard to navigate. I HATE websites you can spend hours searching the when a quick phone call gives you the answer in a couple of minutes.
Back to hatches - I think 500x500 is the recommended minimum for an escape hatch.

Thanks, I'm going to try call. I've had a look at the sites and I cant seem to find anything. Its strange there's not a 40x40 hatch. I'm wondering if the lip adds to the cut out. As my measurements are the the inside as per drawing.

Thanks
Jonjoe

Check the dimensions of the polycarb. Usually that's a good indicator of cutout size, and given your inside dims of 400×400, my guess is a 420×420 is the likely nearest size. Don't forget that the spigot adds some thickness.
