Exhaust elbow is corroded and needs replacing but I have been told there is none in the country! Does anyone know where I can source one quickly?

Not been winterising properly?

I'm extremely lazy and have had to replace mine twice in ten years.
Recently I've discovered that I can quickly flush the manifold with inhibitor by
1) Popping the exhaust hose off the manifold and hanging a kids bucket underneath
2) popping the hose to the exchanger off the siphon break.
3) Pouring a couple of litres of inhibitor into the hose you just removed in 2)

This is about half an hours effort and well worth it if leaving the boat for a few months....

Jimi.... none in the country.. you should have asked me.. I have a spare in that (rather inaccessible) locker under the bed in the aft cabin!!!

I always wonder why that odd looking carrier bag in there is so heavy

did you get it from keypart jimi, bought a new one last year from them. !

Also Jimi if you looking at engine stuff. have a look at the condidtion of you saildrive shaft seals. we change ours every three years, just because i've know a few saildrive fail. you need to take the prop and ring anode off. it's the two back to back seals that are behind the anode in the back of the saildrive housing.

s/steel ?

I have replaced one of my 2 MD 2010 elbows and realise the other will need doing before long.
I dislike the prices and am going to make one in stainless instead .
my intention is to copy the dimensions but not make a sleeve inside as a water jacket .
I have looked at the way the perkins 4108 elbows are made and they just have a water injection elbow so I figured it was acceptable not to make the water jacket inside , as this would be a tricky thing to fabricate .
Has anyone made their own elbow in this way ? will the stainless last longer ?

Get one fabricated in stainless steel 316. Cheaper and far longer life than the volvo units.

Not a long fabrication job either.

Remember that this is the same engine as the Perkins Perama and the parts are interchangeable. Volspec are a good source as they are agents for both VP and Perkins.
