my engels fridge seems bust. compressor gets very hot and seems like the pump is not running. ice box is room temp, radiator is room temp - any clues ? can they be fixed or is it open wallet surgery time ???

Was the fridge new from the last six years?

If so and you have the receipt my understanding is that under EU law the supplier is bound to repair or replace if a manufacturing fault or at the very least offer to repair.

There was a bit on TV earlier in the week about benefits of EU legislation and this was one of them.

I had a duff fridge last year but did not know about this legislation.

Thanks. Next time one of the fridges goes I will be back to the reseller which is where the claim needs to be made, not the manufacturer. So if the importer supplied the fridges then yes it would to the importer but in my case the boat selling company.

I have made a separate thread because on reading what this new legislation is about it makes me think more aggressively about my rights regarding products lasting a reasonable length of time.
