Helmets, anyone wear them?

I have ordered the open face, I only need the face and eye protection, my balaclava (well the one I ordered from them) plus my Musto Jacket should keep my upper neck and chin warm. The ordering system is a bit naff, you fill in an order form, e-mail it, then they ring you back with a price and to take payment, probably too busy making helmets to be efficient, pure waste of resources really if they are that busy.

Mine is due for despatch on the 13th Nov 06, can't see me using it until absolutely necessary, so no rush. I should then be as snug as a bug in a rug /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Glad someone else see's the sense in them, as I said it just brings the hard top to your head and a damn site cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is this another wind up, you're going to cruise down the Thames or wherever it is you're based in your luxury cruiser and a motorbike helmet? Be sure to post a picture wont you.

Whats wrong with a bobble hat?

I don't care what I look like, I want to keep safe and warm, image has never been one of my strong points /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What if you slip on ice while bringing in the fenders and bang your head, I would be OK, you could be unconcious or at worst dead especially if you are boating alone for any reason /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

When I brought the boat round the South Coast at the end of the summer we had some force 6's and 7's, the boat is quite low and you take a lot of spray, it would have been great to put on the helmet and watch all the water role away, a lot easier than having to keep drying sunglasses /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Anyway the age has come to wear real glasses, so easier to learn to wear them with the protection of the helmet.

If you are new to specs you will find them a real pain in the wet. They get wet. You dry them. They get wet. You dry them with a slightly damp cloth. They get wet. You try to dry them with a sodden rag. You give up.

I wore contact lenses for years and years but my last optician's appointment with lenses went as follows:

Optician: How long do you wear your lenses for, on average.

Me: I puttem in when I get up, say 7 and takem out when I go to bed at midnightish.

Optician: Carry on doing that and you will get burst blood vessels in your eyes that will not clear.

Me: What's new in specs then?
