HI all,

I have recently joined the coastal boating fraternity with my better half Joanna. I have enjoyed a few outboard boats and jet skis in the past, but I thought it was time to move up! We have purchased a 2001 Mariah 268 with a mercruiser 5.7V8 moored up on the river Itchen off southampton water. We have just done our RYA level 2 and gaining confidence all the time. Anyway, I look forward to learning more from this forum and perhaps meet a few of you on the water.

Do you ever arrange meets?

Regards

Nick

Hi Nick,

Welcome. Check out the forum events section for details of meets, both specific ones and ad hoc get-togethers. Click on 'main index' and then scroll down a bit to see the various other places that posts can go hereabouts.

Re: Hi

welcome etc.

yup, quite a few meet up from time to time, boith in uk, in the med, and most productively in various landlocked pubs (allows more drinking time if you don't have to prat about with a boat)

Firstly "Welcome" to the forum to both of you - have you been looking in as a guest ??

Yes there are loads of meets - the biggest was at Mercury on the Hamble where about 120 met up for the weekend - various other organised or impromptu meets happen. There is an area for meet ups on this forum.

I hope you enjoy your new boat.

Welcome Nick, I think you will enjoy the forum, it is a very intellectual debating place, but don't let that put you off at all, I am sure you will get to understand it /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif You will learn so much on here, I certainly have /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Enjoy it.

I won't be able to meet up with you as I'm taking a guy out on his boat to give him a days tuition on his own boat.
I'd try and make the most of it if you can't get out for the next three weeks/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
