Have a friend with good headsail ,but configured for racing foil, whereas his boat requires hanks.

Has anyone experience or comments on the idea of inserting eyelets and hanks into the luff tape,to use on a conventional forestay.

My own concern is that the bolt rope ends short of both head and tack rings, and is no doubt very stretchy ,supported as designed over the entire length in a foil .
This may not work if only supported by the intermittent hanks.

Thanks in anticipation of any input.

Not exactly a response to your question but I have rope luffs fitted to my hanked-on foresails. This makes them easier to handle and, unless your halyard is of wire or other lower-stretch material, you ought to get nearly as good a tension on them as with wire luffs.
Depends on your standards really, good enough for cruising is probably inadequate for racing. Either way, getting a new luff rope fitted shouldn't break the bank.
