Havelet bay

I have never seen more than 2 boats at a time.- That includes August- However, fees for the marina have never been exhorbitant. If that has changed this year, it may have meant some have taken the cheepo alternative.

Hi, does anyone have experience of Havelet bay, how busy it is likely to be mid-week in early August? Could it be so busy that there is no room? thanks

It’s OK in settled weather unless the wind has any easterly component - in which case it can rapidly become awful. There’s room for half a dozen perhaps, depending on size and scope, but there are some rocky patches you need to be careful of at low tide. It can be an idyllic mooring under the castle in the right conditions, but use it with caution.

Sorry - to answer the question: if the weather is suitable, then Havelet tends to be well used in August. The slipway in the NE corner (under Castle Cornet) has recently been repaired, which adds to the convenience but also perhaps the popularity.

We deeply regretted staying in the marina last year when we saw it, although the weather was very hot and calm. The marina inside the gate was unbearably hot while the anchorage looked very pleasant

And of course, Guernsey Yacht Club at the top of the slipway by Castle Cornet.

Happy hour Friday 1730 to 1830 followed by the meat draw. Great fun!
