I notice the post on jet skis (Blinking Jetskis)suggesting they should be regulated, and that racers should re-read colregs (not the original subject, but in the post ), and then read a post complaining about more regulation re. the environment (The shellfish police )

so which is it? I know which I reckon the panel will vote for

The concepts are mutually exclusive. You can either have a cake and not eat it - or - eat your cake and then not have it any more.

Back on topic, i'd be in favour of more regulation IF it would actually solve any of these issues (which I am highly doubtful of, we have driving liscences but still plenty of idiots on the road) and if it wouldn't be the thin end of the wedge regarding taxing boats, which we all know it would be.

But the whole purpose of cake is for consumption. So what would be the benefit of having cake and not eating it? I've always thought this to be a strange expression.

if you don't eat it, it goes mouldy and has to be thrown away
if you do eat it - it stays with you for ever - hanging just around the ribs /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can I humbly suggest that not all jet-skiers are that bad. There's plenty of water for all of us. Perhaps "Hug a Jet-skier" or, even, offer him a piece of your cake - unless, of course, you've eaten it, in which case you wouldn't have it!? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Having eaten one's cake, one can no longer have it. Although one can, of course, buy or bake another. But not on a jetski.

If you were to put the cake into a condom (or Femdom if it's a big slice) and tie the end, then eat it, you would have it in about 12 hours or so.
