I've recently been exploring the options of making my own biodiesel from vegetable oil if/when the price of red diesel rockets. Do you have any experience of making or using biodiesel?

So I can't use it in my Nissan X-Trail because it has a common rail diesel, but it could go in a Volvo KAD44, but not a newer Volvo D series?

I know a commercial skipper that runs on heating oil but he mixes 25ltr of engine oil with every 1000 litres of heating oil. That's to get over the lubricity problem with heating oil. I am no expert on this but I am sure one will pop along soon.

Aye, i've heard people using Kerosene but was told it wasn't recommended because the diesel also act's as a lubricant for the fuel pump. But as mentioned above, mixing a bit of engine oil may help. I wouldn't have thought of it but makes sense
