Fairly calm in London, overcast but not much wind as far as I can see, just enough to hold the flags out.

Coming in nicely (!?) just outside the Solent at New Milton. Half the street market's been blown into the New forest and the other half is packing up - looks like a foredeck with three crew trying to stow two wet spinackers !

According to the radio weatherceleb at lunchtime West Country and Pembrokeshire will bear the brunt, up to 90 mph. Rest of us will merely get our boyish locks ruffled.

Looking out of the window I've got the upper cloud layer moving at right angles to the lower layer.

If Tom Cunliffe is right that means it's going to come on to blow really hard - F8 gusts at moment.

We have a bit of a Cornish blow, watched 3 yachts go aground so far, apart from that all is quiet.

Up to 33kn in gusts down in Torquay Marina on our boat. SWMBO ( I hate that term) went down at luchtime to check/ double lines, take sprayhood down and put more fenders out. I'm going down this evening at high tide. BIG WEATHER- love it.

Think we already are. At 11 this morning the roof blew off St Austell railway station on to the track. Caused a bit of a holdup. SWMBO is now on way to London after 2 hour wait in Truro! The 10:28 left at 12:15.

It might well have been and gone in Cornwall by now (1622 BST) as Culdrose has reported 25 knots over the last 3 hours but it was up to 55 knots during the morning with gusts of about 65 knots. The rain has been nowhere near as devastating as originally forecast along the south coast.
Coastguards report having difficulty getting windsurfers out of the water at Looe and Exmouth. Looe beach now closed. Torquay seafront is also closed.
It could come back at us overnight, tho'

Just got back from Haslar marina. It was pretty awful down there, but I suspect there is a lot worse to come. The wind wasn't much above a F6, and the rain was still intermittent. It is however steadily worsening as far as I can see from home, I have a three-story house, so I get a good sense of how windy things have become when I am upstairs.

Probebly have got as bad a weather as it is possible to get up at college in Shropshire wind is making the trees sway about a bit, a few showers nothing much.
Bit of a let down compared to Scilly and the Westcountry.
Ah well off to the Welsh coast for two days tomorrow hopefuly see a wave or
two:-).

Of course I can, and trees and fields. But the windmills are spinning pretty quickly, should be connected to a generator/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

erm is it just me .. but surely F8 is not unduly bad weather on the coast at this time of year? Ain't it got to be F9/10 afore the wee guy in McG26 is even starting to stop smiling?
