I have a Thornycroft 230. I searched on ASAP for an anode but none are listed. How would I find out if I have one or need one? The thread on Beta where you have to change it twice a year go me worried!

Thanks for any help you can give.

Its fresh water cooled isn't it.?

If so there wont be an anode in the engine. That is protected from corrosion by the inhibitors in the antifreeze.

If it has a heat exchanger, as opposed to a keel cooler, there may be anode in the seawater side of that

No engine anode, I had a Colvic Watson 31' 6" with a 230 for 20 years and a very economical engine it was, using just 4 litres per hour at 1600rpm which gave 6½ knots, a lot less that the figures suggested in that pdf.

I agree on the fuel consumption, very frugal. 75hp at about 2100 revs and purs along at 1500 revs. I say purs, a more modern engine would be a bit quieter :)

Thanks for the confirmation of the no-anode.
