Have I got a VSR on my boat please?

Not quite able to tell from the photo if the grey box is a VSR (as others have said), though there probably is one on a reasonably new HR. What you can tell though is that the two 6v batteries don't seem to be secured down.....

At the top of the photo you can see part of an L-shaped cover which bolts down over the batteries to retain the batteries and to seal the compartment (note the rubber sealing strip). Hallberg-Rassy boats have a ventilated battery compartment, you'll see a grey corrugated hose in the compartment.

It is invaluable to draw a wiring diagram of your system, to save time and mistakes if you have to have someone on board who is not familiar with your system. Every boat is different. If its HR, do they not provide one?

That's the problem with having been at an all girls school.....we did cookery and needlework (the latter was not a success!), so I haven't got a clue about electrics/mechanical/woodwork stuff.

Yes thanks I've got the wiring diagrams for the boat but they are double dutch to me. Anyway I'm sailing this weekend so will take a closer look in the "battery cupboard" at that grey thingie!

Yes pvb is correct about the batteries being secure and ventilated. Thanks again
