How much is it where you are to get hauled out and antifouled?

I would like to find the most expensive and cheapest places.

We have a 45ft boat and are in La Rochelle in France. Haul out for 48 hours and put back is about 500 euro. Antifoul for 7.5L is 480 euros. Thats nearly a 1000 euro's without anodes. It would be cheaper to sail back to the UK an get it done there and then set off again.

What are prices like where you are?

It gets worse, you're in La Rochelle. My Dad's boat spent last winter there, and despite repeated requests in person, by email and by phone, he never managed to get them to actually hoist her out and scrub her. They just weren't interested.

Re anti-foul, www.yachtmail have an offer on for Blakex Tigedr Xtra @ £57.50
http://www.yachtmailchandlery.com/hempel-blakes-tiger-xtra-antifouling-2-5l/

It looks like they wont ship to Europe BUT if you are planning a ferry home to visit relatives, it seems like buying here and taking it with you may be the way to go?

Re lift etc, if you do decide to come home.... we are 25' LOA and it costs about £150 each way in/out. I am with Premier @ Swanwich so get 12 weeks between September and end December free hardstanding. If you are a visitor you have to pay for time ashore. I also know that Deacons on the Hamble are doing deals.

I suspose another option is to find a wall to lie against and do the job over a few low tides. Personally, I have no idea how to do this, but its been mentioned as a way around lift charges in a couple of live-aboard books that I have read.

Does anyone know why companies won't or cannot send anti foul abroad. I notice that they ship to the Chanel Islands so why not the rest of europe. I thought we were in a common market?

I suggest you give yachtmail in Swanwick a call and ask them. Anthony are Stewart are really helpful chaps and I am sure they will be able to tell you what's-what and if there is any feasable "work-around". tel: +44 (0) 1489 588875.

I take advantage of marina "summer scrub" offers every 2 years. For my 35 footer, lift, jetwash, cradle for a week and relaunch is £195. 7 litres of Micron is about £250. Annual cost is therefore around £225. And it's a much more pleasant job in the summer!

Haul out on slip onto my own trailer. £free

2 Tins of International Bottomcoat £56, used 1 tin last year, will use the other tin this year.

Beat that.

(actually this year I paid for a crane out, £48, but will re launch from the slipway. but I could have used the slipway both ways)

Antifoul is classified as dangerous goods for transport so many companies can't be bothered with the extra hassle of packing marking and documentation hence only ship in uk.

We pay about £20 per metre for the lift and back, so you are paying about 40% more than us for that.

Your painting charge seems absurd though. My friendly supplier gives me antifoul at cost (well, he says it is!) and I pay him £9 per litre. My boat is about the same size as yours and I can antifoul it in less than a day.

If you sail your boat to the Isle of Wight I will do the whole job for you for 600 euros and still make a huge margin.

You might try Rochefort. They spent a lot fixing their crane and might be looking for work..
Mate tried to carry epoxy on ferry. Sorry, hazardous goods, was the answer. A couple of tins,OK. But he checked as it was 60+kg and got the official line.
I will check with friends in Rochefort (40ft) for prices and PM you.

We do not ship paint or liquids out side of the UK due to courier restrictions and past experience with damaged product .

Apologies for any inconvenience

Our boat is 15 tonnes naked and I believe the crane there is too small but thank you Andrew

Well, you're a liveaboard with nothing else to do(lol) so why not buy a broom and a long stick?
Go to Spain and lay the boat over on a sheltered beach, one side at a time, or alongside a wall, or sell it I suppose( joke)

You might try EU45 for the paint (see thread on PBO) Claim to deliver anywhere in Europe.

You are in a good tidal area to consider drying out on a wall. Not as as scary as it sounds and you could do it in 2 days - one side per tide.
