Sorry just realised there was a recent thread on this topic!
Hi all,
I am compteplating fitting a 10w or 20w solar panel to my Corribee and have reasoned that best place to mount the panel is on the companionway hatch (though I am open to other suggestions). I was wondering, however, how one would wire it in as the hath obviously slides? I saw in PBO recently a small bit on mounting a panel on the hatch of the PBO project boat using block and bungees to rectify the problem but I wondered if there is possbily a simpler way?
Many Thanks in adavance,
Jack

I have tried panels mounted on hatches in my case the front hatch. Ultimately the panel gotdamaged from feet spinnaker pole or something. I never found out.
Yes the main hatch cover should be a bit safer but then you have to have wiring that will allow for the movement of the cover.
I have settled on attaching my solar panel to the top of the boom over the sail cover with bungees. The cord goes under the hatch cover at the back end and plugs into a switch panel just inside the bulkhead. This seems to give less shadow and no rsik of damage while sailing as it is stowed below. But it is a small panel. good luck olewill
