Being an ex-Haslar berth-holder, I can't help but notice the number of posts slagging them off.

A few years ago, it was MDL that was on the receiving end of the wrath from the forum.

Now I get the distinct impression that Haslar are now the leaders in the field of arrogance or are there others that make MDL or Hustler look tame by comparison?

I have been at Haslar for 4 seasons and must say that I have been pretty happy with the place. The staff are generally very friendly and my experience is they go out of their way to help. The only niggles I have are:
1. The prices seem to rise above inflation each year (but where don't they?)
2. Often long queues for showers
3. Toilet facilities are becoming rather tired and need updating (would have been nice to see a new facilities block where they built the new office).
4. Car parking can be a problem during busy weekends
5. Too many charter yachts - exacerbating points 2 & 4.

I have been berthed in Haslar for 4 years and was in Campers for 3 years before that
I have no complaints with Haslar, its very well managed, the staff are polite and always ready to help, they even willingly came out with the rib when I had a gearbox linkage problem and helped me in my berth.

The marina is clean and well maintained. I have never found the staff arrogant, in fact just the opposite - they always seem very friendly and cheery to me

Yes the main car park gets busy, but the new overflow car park is never full, and in four years I have always managed to get parked in the main park so its not a big problem.

There is far less wash in Haslar than there was in Campers and in general I think its a much nicer marina

i've been away from the Solent for a couple of years. Started looking for a winter berth and Haslars Oct to Mar rate is phenomenally good (£1500 for my 60ft'er). Just dreading the summer rate. I was berthed there for 3 years previously and have never had an issue with their friendliness and security. Just a few problems with some of the onsite suppliers but pm me for details

We use Haslar as visitors on a regular basis and our experience is that they are one of the better marinas in The Solent. The Lightship showers/toilets have been refurbished this year and Langhams are doing a good job with the bar/restaurant. Always found the staff helpful too.

Re: I\'m fairly happy with MDL

The facilities are good on the whole and the staff are pretty pleasant at all of their marinas but my home berth, Shamrock Quay. THe yard is poorly lit and poorly regulated. Sub-contractors and DIY bertholders leave trip hazards all over the place. As for the staff some of them are almost cheerful but several would rather walk off the jetty than meet your eye. Funny line of wrk for apprentice hermits.

I looked at Haslar, which I visit quite regularly, as a home berth but thought it a bit pricey for what was on offer.

I have been a berth holder at Hasler for 2 seasons and only have one complaint. Why cant they get the trolleys in the right place? Friday nights no trolleys in the car park, Sunday evening no trolleys on the pontoons. Perhaps i'm just being a grumpy old man.
