Upon a recommendation or two from fellow yotties here in Turkey we made a direct b-line to Hasan's restaurant in Kekova Roads. There is some awful weather coming and we needed to check the forecast. We were told that he has wi-fi. Of course we would be looking to buy a couple of beers at the same time and even considered coming back in the evening for something to eat. I don't think that will be happening...
I won't bore you with the details but this Hasan, who's restaurant is named after him and 'welcomes' yotties, is a nasty piece of work. He told us abruptly that internet connection was for guests only and turned his back on us. When I told him we were looking for drinks he told us internet is for guests who only order food. I then said we would be returning in the evening for dinner and wanted to come to his place because he came recommended. Once again he snapped that internet was for guests only. Clearly he took one look at us and decided he didn't want us there. Both Liz and I were shocked at his general nastyness, and so I told him this. I reminded him that this was no way to treat potential customers.
I'm sure we've all been there from time to time and normally one forgets it and moves on, walks away. But what makes this exchange different is that after telling us he didn't want to talk to us he then threatened us by asking what boat we were on and that he would 'come and visit us'. He didn't mean he'd pop over for a friendly chat and a drink.
We're stuck here in Kekova Roads whilst a gale force wind blows down the side of the Aegean, pegging us in and preventing us from leaving, and this local, who clearly got out the wrong side of bed, takes an instant dislike to us and threatens us.
Please do us a favour: if you ever visit Kekova Roads (and you should because it's stunning), don't give Hasan your business. Go to Ibrahim next door. At least he had the decency to tell us his wi-fi wasn't working and pointed us to a bar where we could get connection.
