Its now February with very few used yachts changing hands and the same asking prices still stuck there from September.
Do you think the market is going to eventually move because storage charges will soon be kicking in for the coming year?
Which will be the easiest to shift..the £5000 to £20000, or £20000 to £50000 in this climate?

I believe the 20000 to 50000 range are selling better. The reason I feel this is because while prices are cheaper smaller yacht (20 to 30 foot) owners are "upgrading" to the 30 - 40 foot range. Where as new people can't/won't purchase a hole in the water when times are tough.

You can see this on the brokers website. There are hundreds of smaller yachts for sale and the bigger boats mostly under offer. Most people are trading up the reason why there's so many smaller boats on the Market.

Also 30-35 foot is classed as starter boat nowadays. And novices with money will forget about the centaurs, contessa 26, smaller saddlers. And buy the hanse, bens, bav, Jennys. Shame really because I believe the tatty boats are the better boats.

At the end of the day it's the buyers market at the moment, immaculate boats will sell what ever the size is. MAB's will rot away in the yard.

the easiest to shift are the ones appropriately priced, the price bracket is irrelevant. When a boat is in good condition and not overpriced it will rarely stay on the market long. Unfortunately most owners cannot see the real condition of the boat, you only have to look at boat shed and see all of the pictures of dirty wet bilges to see why the market is slow.
