Has Brightlingsea Marina been dredged yet?

I believe they've finished the small basin, so a heck of a lot of mud's gone away on the tide if that small pile's all that's left. If that's the worst that happened then it looks like a great job so far.

They didn't leave it there when they built it, it arrived on its own afterwards - and it will be silting up again the moment they stop dredging - the marina owners will need to keep dredging this time - which is what they failed to do before.

I went by road a couple of months ago. Soulless place. Full of mud. Best avoided.

I have sail on the East coast for many years , been based on the Orwell , Ord and the Deben , now a full time Liveaboard in the MED , I have to say reading the stuff on the East coast forum make me a bit home sick , the East coast may be full of Mud has you say , but it has some of the best rivers and coast , some great anchorage where your not bothered by greed Harbour masters , friendly clubs , and wild life which every way you look . It can test your navigation skills to the limits,
When the day come to return home , if for sure won't be the South Coast ,
my port of call will be the muddle East coast .
I just hope it's not been changed .

They were doing the main channel area between the marina and main pontoons yesterday. Their are some large ships using the wharf now filling them what looks like scrap metal so deeper channels needed I suppose.

I thought the scrap had gone, replaced by woodchip. Has it changed again?

Looked like metal, going down again a few hours shortly so will keep updated. They were still playing with dredger on bank holiday Friday so it's still on going. Lovely day down their, harbour looked like the M25 at times along with jetskis & powerboats launching from point clear.

The marina is dredged, and all the pontoons are back in place. I beleive dredged to 2m at LW, i was down there shortly after LW and no sign of any hump where the pipe was, so seems like a very successful operation.

I would just like to say how FANTASTIC Brightlingsea inner marina is now that it has been dredged. It just gives another option for those quick overnighters for those wanting marina facilities!! A big THANK YOU to the marina for doing this.
