Has anyone replaced cabin windows on Sigma 362 if so instructions please

I had the windows on a Sigma 38 serviced but it was about 12 years ago, all Marine Projects boats (sigmas and moodys) seem to have similar combinations of Lewmar opening lights and aluminium framed fixed lights so you could widen your search to perhaps get more advice. I have a similar task in the future on a Moody S31 so any feedback you get would be useful to me too.
With the S38 the windows were removed (so it was a winter job) and sent to a firm somewhere in the Midlands (I think) who put new acrylic in them and replaced seals and gaskets. If the name comes to me I will post it but I do recall being well pleased with the results. (Eagle boat windows?)

Edit - Yes, Eagle Boat windows in Nelson Lancashire, Google it. Did a good as new job for me>

Hi,
Going to keep an eye on this thread as one of the jobs to do is replace tthe windows on my Sigma 362.
This winter I removed a window to see what would be necessary and I was surprised that initially it seems fairly easy. Undo lots of screws, carefully prise aluminium frame away from topsides and that was it. Frame was bedded in/on butyl mastic that was still soft, in fact I moved some around and solved an irritating leak. Not sure about sourcing and cutting glazing but Mr google will sort that, the mastic is still available and surprisingly cheap.
This is only one window albeit the biggest so the others might be entirely different but they don't look like it.
+1 for Eagle they seviced some hatches for me a while ago ,pleased with result, you have to book in with them they have a long waiting list

Well how about that. This job is also on my list for my Sigma 362, and I also ponder how to efficiently do it.
I reckon it would be a lot easier if it is possible to obtain the replacement windows, plus whatever seals there might be, before taking the old ones out. Anyone done that?

Easy job! I did my s362 10 years ago and my s35 5 years ago. Unscrew/unseal and send to eagle boat windows. Worth a phone call before hand to deduce turn around times. Whilst out of action just cover with polythene snd gaffer tape.

Has anyone replaced cabin windows on Sigma 362 if so helpful instructions much appreciated.

Last winter removed the 40 machine screws from each window on a Frances 26, got new acrylic window sheets cut , and fiixed using 3M VHB (Very High Bonding) tape.

No screws despite a slight curve in boat window moulding.

Stressed tested this season with some thrashing beats - no movement !

Hi Mira.
This was a job I did a few years ago. If you'd like to PM me with an email address I'll send you an MS-Word doc that sets out my experience. It was originally written for the now defunct (I believe) Sigma 362 website. I can't remember if it ever apeared there but, anyway, it is too long to post here.

I went to www.boatworkstoday.com. - followed his piece on window replacements - lashed out and bought 3M VHB tape and refitted new windows without all those screws.

Lots of challenging beats this last season - no movement at all.

... its having the bravery to embrace new technology !

Evening Trevor,
I asked kacecar for a copy of his article which he sent me, hopefully I have mailed it to you, there are 3 pages, any problems just mail me and I'll send again. If you received it then perhaps delete your email address from article before you get swamped with not nice spam.
Happies
Keith

Do you still have your S35 ?

I'm surprised that the integrity of the boat can depend on sticky tape with no mechanical/other back up. The windows and cabin top of my Red Fox Vision just came off-they were just stuck in place by the manufacturer. The hull mounted quarter window - or lack of, was discovered while swimming around my boat at anchorage! That affected my enjoyment of the return trip. They were bonded in place but now are bonded with additional bolts or metal overlay. Lovely boat though.

Did you ever get round to replacing the windows on your sigma 362? If yes i would be keen to hear how it went and any instructions you might be willing to share. I am keen to do mine too.

I'm not a Facebook user so didn't know about the Sigma 362 facebook page - good news. If anyone still wants a copy of the "Replacing Windows" article, please PM me and I'll happily email it to you.
