Has anyone managed to liveaboard while working on their boat in a yard?

A residential mooring , even if the boat is ashore , requires planning permission and the marina or the resident should be required to pay council tax. The marina where I keep my boat has permission for a small number of residential moorings and I know another marina locally has some residential moorings. So it is entirely possible that you could find somewhere.

We had a quote for the winter from Ridgewharf near Poole. The quote was fantastic and they were happy to let us stay aboard and for us to do our own work. Sadly we had engine issues and couldn't get there so we wintered in Jersey. They were very friendly.
I recommend it to everyone.

I’m not suggesting this location, way too far for you, and it’s not allowed anyway.

But, while Milford Marina is very unusual in openly advertising that they welcome liveaboard berths in the marina, they recently explicitly forbade anyone living aboard a liveaboard vessel while in the yard.
Occasional nights aboard while in the yard are still allowed however for owners with permanent addresses ashore.
I understand this is due to pressure from the council, licensing and their frustrated efforts to find a way to charge council tax to the marina liveaboard residents.

Stayed aboard in a couple of Spanish yards for short periods and twice in a Moroccan yard.

It helps focus on getting up at dawn and working til dusk because it's not a bundle of fun and the shorter time out the better. And getting inventive when you need a pee in the night. And washing up.

It helps if the sinks in the toilet block are nice and big!

South ferriby marina on the humber allows people to live for 3 days a week on their boats ashore An extra £20 a week and you can live full time. Rents are cheap £95 a month for a 28 foot. Shower and toilet on site.

Tichmarsh marina in Walton appears to have a number of liveaboards and has post boxes for them so I'd assume it's legit.
It's not far from Felixstowe as the crow flies but a bit of a schlep by road to get there.
