Has anyone found a genuinely non kink hosepipe

I have bought two so far that claimed to be special in their abilities not to kink ... both failed

I have searched Amazon etc and many claim to be good but then the reviews are never glowing

I would really like, regardless of cost, to have a hosepipe that does not kink and will coil nicely .. any experiences?

I bought some heavy-duty garden hose cheap from a garden centre that was closing down, but it is much heavier and more bulky than I would wish on my boat. I have managed perfectly well with the usual blue reels, though I have had to replace them occasionally. Also, a stout enough hose might not be suitable for potable water.

I've had a hose cassette on the boat similar to this for the past 15 years or so. Very compact, coils and uncoils easily. Mine is 15m long which suffices for most boat-related purposes.

The hose won't kink if you don't twist it. Mine has a coloured stripe straight down the length of the hosde. If you heep that from slowly spiralling then no problem.

I have found that 'standard' hose is just not thick and strong enough to avoid kinks. I once splashed out and bought some relatively expensive (twice the price?) higher quality 'heavy duty' hose as a present for my ex, an avid gardener, and was impressed by its durability, resistance to kinking and to pinhole leaks from being dragged over stones etc. It is also strong enough that it isn't damaged by being driven over on e.g. a road or drive. I later bought another reel's worth of the good stuff for boat use when my boat was parked ashore a huge distance from the nearest tap, needing a series of hoses to reach.

The good stuff I have is yellow (black inside IIRC), and rubbery in texture, as opposed to the plastic feel of standard hose. A good length reel of this is very heavy, but it has lasted years, and certainly much better than the standard hose I also have which is still in occasional use (often needed in series to achieve length) but so annoying to use because of numerous kinks that have developed and the need to cut out ends or sections that have developed leaks.

This good quality hose is far too heavy and bulky to keep on my smallish boat, and for cruising the boat has a couple of 'cassette' type reels of 'fold flat' hose - not very durable at all, but more practical afloat.

The expandable blue X Hose they do in B&Q is good . I’ve been dragging one round on a rough surface in the boat yard with no issues for quite a few seasons. More durable than you’d think.

After trying cheap hoses, Hoselock hoses, expandable hoses, I settled on a decent quality one and wind it carefully (not over my shoulder).

This. The X hoses are great. We've used one for years. Link to product on B&Q website. Obviously available elsewhere.

I had a X hose and it did well. It had a pinprick leak for a year or more and finally gave up in Cherbourg where the water pressure seemed higher compared with home.
My new boat came with an expanding hose, dont know the make, and if it fails wil invest in a new one.
Repair kits do seem to be available on ebay, etc but I dont know how good they are.

What I like about them is how little space they take up.

I much prefer this now - it folds up so small. I'm not sure I'd ever buy a regular coiling hose again now - maybe if I lived in a house had a drum hanging on the wall to roll it up into,

I used one for the first time only today, found in the locker of an old boat. Liked it a lot, just shoved away in a plastic carrier bag when finished. Easy.

And another one that inherited and expanding hose - YOLO make - and it is simply excellent. It expands to about twice its dry length and then, when you finish, you scrunch it up into a small bag and shove it in a locker. What could be better?

I’ve got one of those Hozelock ones. It lives in a bucket in a cockpit locker, and never emerges kinked.

I've burst two of those Hozelock flexi hoses. Both times at Brixham where they seem to have 6 bar water pressure vs the 3 bar rubbish in the Solent.
