Has anyone bought or used a South Pacific 710FS windless.
I am thinking of buying a South Pacific 710FS windless for use with 6 mm chain. My anchor is a SL Delta weighing 6 kg. I normally anchor in about 5m of water with three times the depth of chain.
With anchor chain at about 0.8 kg per m and assuming that I might be initially lifting approx 10 m allowing for the curve of the chain to the bottom, I estimate the static load to be initially about 15 Kg not allowing for the load from the wind on the boat. In reality however I would be motoring up onto the anchor so that the chain would be vertical.
My boat is only a 20 foot Motor Sailor.
Has anyone used these windless. The motor is rated at 300 w which is not a lot, however in my previous boat which was a Westerly Pentland, I installed a vertical SL windless which was only 120 watts and that lifted my 35 lb CQR with 5/16 chain so this would be more that twice the power for half the load but I still worry that the SP 710 may be light.
