Hi

I'm just looking for anyone that has had a survey done by him and has a positive (or negative) experience.

He came recommended by another surveyor, but I can't find anything about him online.

Also recommended by Volvo Penta service center in Marina Salinas Torrevieja
Bt can ´t find anything about Rick Bratt Solutions ....

Yes he’s just surveyed my boat.

Waiting for the report.

Don't know where you are, but we used a chap called Neil Wilkinson based near Gibraltar who was very thorough.

Thanks Plan B, I might need that surveyor to resurvey my wreck and confirm the condition of said wreck. Looks grim for us I’m afraid. Completely gutted.

Update:
Referring to the previous conversation I suggest the individual mentioned responds to the conversation as I’m told he is aware of the interest.
Meanwhile I intend to ask an alternative surveyor for a second opinion.

We had him survey our boat recently. We are not happy with the survey he performed. He checked the hull first, glanced at it and said there we're some small minor blisters that were insignificant. Turns out our boat has thousands of blisters extending into the laminate.
He did not check the through hulls nor the propeller, the propellor is completely pink. The rudder and keel leaked rusty water. We had to draw his attention to it and he brushed it off as no problem. Not 2 minutes later he had the boat ordered back in the water. He checked the rigging and found one shroud had a broken strand. We found out there are 3 shrouds in bad shape.
He checked one floorboard: the one we opened for him because we wanted his opinion on the rusty keelbolts. He then concluded the bilge had been dry for years. When we opened another floorboard and saw water in the bilge he brushed it off as rainwater.

His consensus was there was nothing wrong with this 40 year old boat other than two sheets that needed replacing and the broken strand of the shroud.

He did give us a discount on his initial price offer.

What has happened to your boat ? Please tell us the story.
We we’re ecstatic to finally find what we we’re looking for which may have been evident to the broker.
He recommended Mr Bratt and we proceeded, the survey was carried out and we were assured the vessel and it’s value we’re excellent.
A few days later & 300 miles away one engine overheated causing a 1000 euro tow.
since then, I’ve discovered a large patch of osmosis on the foredeck which flexes , another on the starboard deck. The steering was jammed & needed parts, the other engine has a blown turbo and I’m finding more issues every time I go aboard.
I cannot use it until it’s assessed and repaired and I’m paying 50 a day to keep her in the marina. A solicitor nearby has warned us that litigation is expensive and takes too long.
Apparently that’s common knowledge??
We could not visit the boat as we’re not entitled to use our UK licences here, we watched an extensive video and we’re shown many photos.
yeah I know what your thinking….

We took the risk.

Hi,

It seems like we had a similar experience with this surveyor (my previous post). He was also recommended to us by the broker. If you want we can exchange info in a private message?
