I have a couple of Harken winch handles which look like this:

One handle is tight the other seems a little slack. Any idea if it's possible to do anything?

I have similar Harken lightweight alloy handles, the spigot is alloy too so will be prone to wear, though this current set are still good (not enough grinding being done these days). One of mine, two handed lock in version, has always been a bu**er to get in and out since new, it is because the locking plate is poorly aligned with the flats on the spigot and the thumb lever has to be wiggled to align them correctly to insert or withdraw. I thought of taking the plate off or filing the corners of it a bit but decided that since I already have Lewmar non lock in handles, to put up with having to fiddle about with it. The Harken handles are held together with a roll pin but even if you did drill this out I suspect that it would not provide scope for adjustment, but perhaps you could take a file to the tight one.
Since yours are not lock in they may be all one piece which will make them almost impossible to adjust though I can not understand what is making one of them tight, is it clean?
