as you can see in pic 1 someone had made a mistake in the water line for the antifoul - so last years project was to correct it and get the gel coat back to normal - I have pics of the stage by stage process tooooooooo ....

Cheers

She is a fine looking boat.

I do like the way you have tried to make it look like you are hard at work by carefully placing the cleaning brush in the foreground, but the beer gives the game away /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nice pics Nice boat!
I have followed Your Seawings stuff ref You and Jez.
I seem to think at the time when Hardy were building the 20 Pilot and 25 ft Fishing and starting to build bigger ones, is when the Seawings marque was offered.
I think at the time the Hardy types were not ready for such a "Modern" looking craft.
Think the current Hardy peeps are not the same Firm?
Am I right?
Did "Hardy" actually build Your Boat?
Or was it built somewhere and "Badged"?
Dunno ,just trying to remember what went on at that Time.
I do remember looking at Hardy's some time ago and seeing the Seawings range and thinking,"They are a bit smart"
Such a different vessel in shape and form, and totally different to the Hardy Image.
Still, like yer say, looks good and still Modern.
Looks in good nick too.
Plus She has side decks You can use to go forward.
Amazes Me that peeps buy boats that the forward area is so difficult to negotiate.
Ruins the set up IMHO.
Anyway, She looks good.

Yep she was made by Hardy and I have actually spoken to one of the original builders that played a part in her construction - I needed to get the wiper moter fixed and couldnt see a way to get to it - but This builder guy said just remove the roof panel its on stalks!! use a walpaer scraper and shell come loose - I did just that and so they are (the stalks that he mentioned are like to old car door panel retainers - better than the velcro that Fairline tend to use these days .. came down fixed the motor and went back no problem - a real delight to work on too ....

Ill try to find more interior shots for you ...

Still trying to remember.
I think there was another Seawings "shape" that Hardy marketed.
Pehaps a bit before Your vessel.
When was your's built der think?
In My minds eye I see a more angular vessel.

I will try to find some more interior shots - for the time being though I promised in a much earlier post that I would do some before and after pics - so as mentioned earlier I needed to get the antifoul nearer the water line - I have load sof pics of the stages of what we did but for now here are the before and after shots for you.

Just after the jet down when she was hauled out ...

Before.jpg

As you can see antifoul is ridiculously hight can only think that it was a quick job with a piece of string .. but careful scraping millions (well it seemed that way) of pounds and time later ...

After:

after.jpg

The stern not much better so ....

Before:

back_before.jpg

and after:

back_after.jpg

Now all cleaned, antifouled and completely Serviced by my own (and my mates) fair hands ..... we also manager to do a head gasket change much to the annoyance of SWMBO - for reasons shown in the next couple of pics ....

So here is what two weekends work got us to ......

enginebits1.jpg

Why was SWMBO mad - and where did all those other bits go ..

cockpitengine.jpg

Guess who ended up cleaing it all as well though .....

More next time ...

She was built in September 1996 and sold to Ancaster Boat Sales in February 1997, I even have the original build lists from Hardy giving all the options and fittings - she was built as the flag ship apparently and had everything on her that was an added extra at the time .. heating, 4 ring gas hob and oven, CD Player, Bow thruster, uprated tap fittings, KAD42's and many other little fittings that were optional ... after a year she was sold to Simon Gordon (you know he who regularily appears in MBM with his IPS on a Rodman .. .and then last February I bought her - Simon even came all the way over to tell me all about her and point out little foibles, and what to do here and there to get the best out of her ....

Thanks Simon if your reading this /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ooh that was nice, having Simon giving You info.
Built in 96 eh.
I think I was alluding to boats built a little earlier.
I don,t know why but I have this memory of Hardy's having summat built "For Them" if you get My drift.
So why did the KAD 42's, sorry one of the KADS have to have a head gasket etc?
Looks clean in the engine bay too.
Bow thruster and twin outdrives?
No excuses then ,iif You scrape some paint off!!!

The Head gasket change was because of fresh water leaking from behind the exhaust outlet, apparently it is something that happens every three seasons or so with KAD42's according to Volvo - they have lots of them - and a few independants too . If you look carefully you can see the runs in brownish water marks on the block ... so a new improved head gasket was fitted which I am told will cure the problem .. so lets hope ...

So far Ive done a couple of cruises this season the shakedown one was 90nm round trip to Ipswich and she not only performed better than last season - but sounded better too - no leak - hit 40knts 6 up full tanks of water and fuel and loaded for a weekend with provisions ... not bad and at last shes done it ... now it just the rest of season cruising to go - looking forward to that - were off to Gillingham Marina next weekend ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats a very pretty boat and with those lines I guess a fair turn of speed as well. Nice to see the engine bay is white, can't understand the logic behind the dark green I have, unless to hide Mr Perkin's oil drips.

What were Hardy thinking about not to make more?

I have a 1994 Hardy Seawings 305 which is often admired with its design being ahead of its time. Hard-top with large sunroof, good wide side decks and equipped with both twin diesels and a bow thruster. very well equipped and comfy too. Very solid British built boat.

Ibis had been re named to Fox C III when I purchased her in 2019. She is now berthed in Conwy Marina North Wales with a new nameas the old name related to the last owner. She is now Tilly II. I hope to continue to improve her. She still looks very nice indeed inside and out. She continues to be pampered as the other woman.
