Hardstand trailer

Serious question for a change. One of my boats os on a hardstand trailer which gets absolutely NO maintenance. Trouble is the wheel bearings get rusty. I was thinking of replacing them with turned up wood like the old craiots or perhaps nylon bushes or something.

Any suggestions?

Repalce th bearings and use a good quality waterproof grease, they won't get rusty. You may have trouble getting nylon bushes made up to fit and brass ones and even wood needs lubricating, I think they used animal fat of some kind on the chariots.

You need to kill and boil the animal for a while, then skim the fat off the top, beef or pork should do nicely, but of course goose/duck fat is waterproof! tee hee
