So I've been sailing in Poole Bay this weekend and last, and each time I'd say there are barely one fifth of the usual number of boats out and about. There are still quite a few that go and anchor in Studland for lunch, but not many at all actually sailing about. Coming back into Poole Harbour on Saturday late afternoon there was virtually no traffic, despite the harbour now being full of boats on their moorings. My guess is that people who would normally sail with a crew can't under current regulations and so don't bother going out at all?

I suspect you are right. Very quiet up here in the North East too. We saw one other yacht out today and even the sea angling boats looked to have very few punters. It hasn’t stopped the xxxxx lobster pots though!

Was collecting a dinghy for kids on Saturday lunchtime from near hill head sailing club so overlooking the Solent / Southampton water.

all looked much quieter than normal Despite being a pleasant day.

i wonder if the inability to stay overnight or to sail in a race crew has made many people decide to tackle other things first.

i also wonder how many boats are still ashore as owners / yards have not caught up from earlier stages of lockdown

Well I should have been the last 2 weekends, but I procrastinated and wussed out due to lack of crew. This weekend hopefully

Same up here. I was out on saturday and only saw 4 other sail boats, a few small mobos and a few kayaks. I don't think any of the clubs are craning in any time soon here, so a lot of boats stuck on the hard for the season. As far as I can tell no racing of any sort as all club activities still stopped, not even allowed into the clubhouse. So it's just a few individual sailors doing their own thing, those that have or managed to get their boats in the water (we launched from a slipway)

Jissel doesn't go back in until 23rd July. Then I've got to put the mast up and fit the sails, which is a couple of days work at my current energy and general fitness levels, so it'll probably be August before I can get out.
