Harbour Dues Portsmouth?

Hi All,

I will be keeping a Hurley 20 in Fareham Lake this season, is there harbour dues to pay? All a bit unclear, unlike Chichester Harbour

No, but with control of the harbour passing from the military to the "private sector" who knows what will happen in the future

1st I've heard of MOD relinquishing control, is this speculation or in the pipeline.

Somewhere I read that the current QHM will be the last before control is taken away from the MOD....... I dont recall a timetable being mentioned but I am sure its in the pipeline and not just speculation.

I'll post the details if i find them. May have imagined it though.

My interpretation was that the post of QHM will no longer be a serving naval officer but will be civilian just as the port control officers who actually man the VHF, but the function of QHM will remain the same.

I hope they keep the callsign. It's fun listening to the plummy voices calling "Queen's Harbour Master" on Ch11 and getting a good ignoring.
