Well, It is a friday afternoon and it is dark and raining in London at the mo but what is the diffrence between the lot us (including myself) and Happy1 ?

Well I posted a few calls for help in the lsat few days (SSR,ropes around the prop) and what did everyone did in response ?

Here goes :

Byron - would tell me how fat is wife is ! (Not even true)
PaulieB - would find a sexy angle ! and if i miss spell cleat !..........
TCM - Would go into great detail about how many blades my prop has ?
Hayden - would try and find out if I have a little flag or an SAE envlope.
Oldgit - would have a go ! and give me some leads, Thank you

But Happy1 Has given good advise or help on the spot !

Thnk you , this is exactly what we expect at sea, help and wanting to help.

so I welcome Happy here !

Tom

Re: oh right

er, no i didn't. I said happy1 had diving kit, and he did. There's lots more help than that goes on, not all of it on public forums either. Any of it come from your direction, I wonder? Most people would get their own dive kit, or get a professional diver. Either way, they wouldn't pop at others. Make sure Happy1's lad is safe and gets paid.

Harumph!

Re: oh right

I was not having a go at any one and I appologise if it came across like that !

But I do think that people here are quick to gang up at other people just because they are doing things in a diffrent way ?

At the end of the day we are all after good advise and some laughs, this is our way of enjoying ourselves away from work ?

Re: oh right

Who's been gangin' up......lead em' on...I'll av' em' I will!
Once somebody has given the required answer/advice, what do you do then sit twiddling your thumbs, no you have an entertaining laugh, thats what I do anyway, I always get some advice, but mixed up with a bit of fun, thats what it's all about surely? If it isn't then I'd apologise to everbody I have ever taken the mickey out of and then not bother coming here again, but I wont!

Oi You and Sailbad....

used to gang up on me regular like!!!!

The two of you would hunt in a pack looking to start a fight with newbies like moi and take advantage of my fickle nature.........

Re: oh right

No harm done.

BTW, despite how it read there was no "ganging up" - if that phrase implies unwarranted "picking on " another poster - and you can be sure that any unwarranted "ganging up" would be swiftly stamped upon by the higher powers monitoring the board. There was, however, a potential safety issue, which I and others felt wasn't being addressed. The wall of agreement with regard to the issue, raised initially off the forum, seems to have confirmed its validity to Happy, who is considering a larger boat or a more circumspect approach to the kit he has on board.

I think H recognises that i was focusing on the issues, not simply "having a go" at him, and the "Happy amnesty" post shows that there are no hard feelings about a series of threads which did become slightly heated- understandably so, imho - but never descended to become a slanging match: people argued the issues.

cheers anyway.

Re: oh right

Fair point !

But I do think that H took it well, but it could easily put many new comers off boating or this forum, There are a lot of people here with lots of knowledge and good advise and we have to make sure that we are welcoming and fair as well !

None of us, want any one at sea to be in a situation where they would need help !

That saibad, bad influence he is!! We are actually just allowing you to lull yourself into a false sense of security, then...........whammo! It's more fun that way.

Re: oh right

Dont think it was us lot putting people off boating or the forum. But I know I was getting a bit peed off a times. But why you bring it up again. I thought we'd dropped it once.

Re: When u 2 are around here....

Ah! Youve seen my sailin' cap av' you! Oddjobs hat has nothing on mine, the chemicals soaked into that hat over the years, the fumes off it have been known to make eyes water at 20 paces. Not to metion the 20 litres or so of antifouling soaked in, mind you it is waterproof and I don't get any fouling on it, even the seagulls wont shit on it!
