Firstly, I'll try and be one of the first to offer a "Happy and Prosperous New Year" to everyone on here, so............

"Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!"

Secondly - here's what I resolve ahead of time:

1. In 2010 I'm going to take Ocean Adventurer right up the Thames to beyond Lechlade, and then take the tender as much beyond that as I can. We haven't been on the Thames for 3 years now having gone caravanning to North Wales and been stormed on and flooded out 3 years in a row it's back to the cruiser for our holidays - at least we have proper heating and showers on board!

2. In support of this I really must try and get a job as cash is running out, (I figure I've spent enough on the boats over the last 12 months to get the country out of recession, now I intend to reap the benefits!). In reality, surely Construction has GOT to restart this Spring............ hasn't it? I've been out of work for 15 months now!

3. I'm going to buy a 12g Remington Wingmaster as I truly believe that the only way I can persuade my 12yr old daughter and, more especially my 15 yr old son, to wash up and also tidy their rooms etc is at gun-point!

4. I'm going to stop chasing teenage girls, at 64 now I can only catch the fat slow ones and it really isn't worth it! I've either got to stay faithful to my young wife (I am already actually, darling, honest!), take up fitness classes, or learn other methods like bribery and corruption (sweeties, underwear etc.)

5. I will wash my 4 x 4 more than twice next year (or get the kids to do it at gun-point perhaps - see 3 above).

6. My son wanted to go camping with his mates on New Year's Eve (he's just asked and I've just refused). As insanity doesn't run in my side of the family I have to suspect my wife, nevertheless a brain transplant for son has to be high on my agenda next year. It's probably too late for wife!

Happy New Year

Well. I'd like to wish all on the Thames Forum a Happy New Year as well.

I try not to get involved in the New Year Resolutions stuff. Either I make a right prat of myself by failing miserably to achieve my objective or I get told I am a self righteous barsteward if I draw attention to some mild success.

So, my New Year Resolution is not to make any - there, that should be reasonably safe !

I will, however, be only too happy to applaud anyone who wishes to resolve to improve my fiscal standing during the coming months :D
