Can anyone name her?

( Without checking the properties! Or, can you name what she is exactly?)

Spent two years aboard this ship, one West Indies Guard Ship tour in '87, and as an OUT ship in '88/89.
Assisted in the final training of 'certain Royal Marines' is well, which was fantastic to be part of!

Went through to Taranto Naval base on her, and fell of the pointy end in '88, up in the Faeroe's !

Show us yours, ship mates!

I knew you'd be on it Will! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

She is a Batch 1 Gun Leander!

My first job aboard was no 2 of the left in the turret. 4.5in guns, 24 rounds a minute!!

Not bad for 112lb shells on a moving platform, firing at a moving target. A real buzz working in there for a 19yr old OD!!!

Here`s HMS/M Token …my home for 3 years ….I lived in the stokers mess at the back…didn`t enjoy it one bit …from the day I stepped aboard the bleeder it tried to murder me ..nearly succeeded a couple of times…although I have never joined any associations ect.…I do treasure my dolphins - more perhaps than anything else I own.

This is the ship my grandfather served on 'being retired'

Wasn't your original post the Leander class frigate that stared in the Warship TV series?

You guy's deserve to wear those Dolphins with pride!

So you would, in naval tradition, have called yourselves 'Leanders'...?

...and these days, with the broadening of the girth, you'd call yourself a 'Broad Beam Leander'!

No?

Yes, you're right - HMS Trafalgar; Battle Class destroyer. Dad has many happy memories. 20 years old, and he'd already seen Hong Kong, Sydney - and the remains of Nagasaki ("We wandered around picking up bits and pieces here and there..... I don't suppose you'd be allowed to do that nowadays" /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
