Wish you were here.......?

Re: Arthur! about taunton

No, it's still going strong as I type this on the laptop in the car (1960 Austin a 40 with 3 miles on the clock, still on the way home).

Re: Arthur! about taunton

The July jam used to stretch from Exeter to Taunton (31mi), when I was a nipper. My word, that was a LONG time ago, wunnit! Is it any different on the M5?

Exe.

Well we had to make d with a trip up the Exe to Topsham and a few pints in the Globe. A bit chilly but really enjoyed the outing and no chance of sunburn!!!

Re: Exe.

Spent many a school holiday at Starcross with aunt and uncle; also cycled there many, many times from Wellington.
Used to take ferry across to Exmouth. Does that still run?
p.s. Isn't it time you went to bed?

Re: Exe.

Must have gone to bed so missed your post last night.

Yes the sodding ferry does still run, straight by my mooring causing mayhem with his wash twice each hour!!

Re: Exe.

Sorry to hear that. Last time I was in S/cross was about 2 yr ago when my aunt passed away and it looked then that the pier was on its last legs. My first experience of sailing was on the Exe, about what seems 100 yr ago; my cousin had a very, very small sailing dinghy which the two of us went out in and merrily sailed almost to Dawlish Warren, but had to row back against the tide! Didn't go sailing again until about 30 yr later, out of Brighton on a 27 footer. Didn't like that either. The 45deg thing is not for me.
