Because of Coronavirus and Lockdown can I use a hanging anode. If so, I have a spare shaft anode can I attach a spare shroud wire to my anode then fix that to one of my stanchions. Will that work?

Will need to hang close to whatever you want it to protect and within direct "sight" of it
The wire must then be connected, with good electrical contact, internally to the item it is to protect. For example to protect a sail drive leg it must hang as close to the sail drive as possible and the wire must be connected to the sail drive upper gearbox inside the boat
Dont forget there must also be a good electrical connection between the anode and the wire
