I have just found my old SX Micro 90 H/H VHF but the battery pack is dead and will not hold a charge. Does anyone know where to get replacements?

Seems a shame to chuck it away.

Try <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.cpcbatteries.co.uk/>CPC Batteries</A> in Twickenham. If they don't have one, they may be able to suggest somewhere else.

There is a company in USA which will rebuild most battery packs using NIMH batteries. I sent them my obsolete Apelco batt. and had it returned in about 2 weeks. not expensive either. Will let you have the details if you need them.

Do a google search on battery repair and you will find many UK sites, Applegate list about 8 companies that repair battery packs.

I have repaired a number of battery packs over the years, the only problem is opening the pack, some are easier than others. look for the seam.join and carefully try to lever it apart. failing that a hot knife plade or a fine hacksaw and split the casing then replace the batteries. A good range oc replacement cells can be found at Maplin Electronics.

If you are worried about attemnting this yourself try the google search - there are too many companies to list here.

The old grey cells no longer work so well but I have a feeling the old SX Micro 90 was distributed for a time by Marathon Leisure, you could ask them 023 9263 7711.

tagged set, solder them up and away you go.Less than £20

Thanks for your help folks. I have found a company in the UK (<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.strikalite.co.uk/>http://www.strikalite.co.uk/</A>) who will re-build the pack for £18.95 inc VAT and return postage. A touch cheaper than a new battery pack I fancy (if you can still get them)

just use a 12 vdc cig charger - my one was coming with the radio and is just labelled; "12 VDC CHARGER".
How did you open the unit ad get the battery out - without any damages?
