Handheld GPS/Map with a twist

Forgot about this.

Came across one of these when I was in Helsinki last week seeing the in-laws.

Benefon another Finnish mobile manufacture (with some tie-in to Nokia) has released a twin band gsm with gps and mapping called the ESC.

Priced a €950 seems a little pricey but a a funky bit of kit all the same

True, I have seen this advice in many magazines.

I have sent a mail to thier tech dept, it will be interesting to see their reply.

I'll also ask a couple of guy's at work as I know at least on of our licencees has looked at producing a similar handset.

I'll let you know what I find out

When you design a combined device like the GPS/Mobile it is relatively easy to design it so that the two circuits don't interfere with each other using sheilding and directional antennas etc. It is harder to eliminate interference from outside from randomly placed mobile phones around your device whether it is a GPS or PDA or anything else for that matter.
