Hampshire Police Marine in pursuit up Southampton Water

I saw this on Facebook, but it does not state what the alleged offence was. I am not sure simply not stopping for a blue light behind you is an offence as you might not see it, especially in bright daylight and on a fast jet ski where you are concentrating upon what lies ahead.

I know these things are annoying, but Southampton Water has a 40 knot speed limit and they are not that fast. I suppose it wil depend where their speed started out of the River Hamble, which is 6 knots out to the cardinal marker buoy, although most open up after the last cardinal post.

I do not know for a fact, but have seen some jetskis shifting very quickly, and would say 40 knots is easily within their reach.

Some of these retail jet skis are going 70mph so many Web sites say.
A very short hull I would imagine is slowed by waves due to getting beaten to death

Following yesterday’s post, we were just ending our shift when 3 jet skis left the Hamble at considerable speed. The team engaged in a pursuit with both RIBs and eventually stopped all 3 riders in the River Itchen. All 3 reported for prosecution. #IfYouSeeBlueLightsStop
WE saw 1 police rib going at a speed down Southampton water around 15:15 no blue lights though

Mostly speeding or driving without due care Justin - every Jarbour has different areas and rules, make sure you look them up on their websites prior to a visit

I've seen better understanding of the law and certainly of English from the RMP and they are generally utterly incompetent.

I don't have a problem with jetskis in Southampton Water, but on several occasions recently I've seen them in the upper reaches of the Itchen amongst kayaks, paddleboards, and kids swimming from the steps in the park. If the police can get hold of the ones doing that, it's good news as far as I'm concerned.

There has been an explosion of personal watercraft in portsmouth harbour since lockdown release. I've never seen so much activity.
It's great because the available space onshore is taken by family's now rather than hordes of yobs.
Some of the yobs have progressed to being waterborne.

The report says, "leaving the Hamble at speed", so I'm guessing this was the offence and they caught up with them on the Itchen.

Its not just jet skis speeding at the top end bend of the Itchen River but also some motorboats. Their wash causing havoc to our boats as they pass, with no consideration for anyone but themselves.
I've now moved berths down river to the inside end of SQ marina.

It feels a general issue at the moment don’t know whether post COVID brains have been left a home in the dash to the coast. I’ve seen people trying to wake board between boats at studland within 5 knot limit and last evening as I was squeezing under Poole bridge, someone thought it was a good idea to come through in the opposite direction (both under bridge at time) at speed. The wake caused nearly had our screen hitting the bridge. SWMOB had some very Anglo Saxon language ?

Shouldn’t look at all jet ski owners with bad thoughts... Have an old friend who has a jet ski, proper chap, grown up around boats. Very responsible..

Then I pass a train of white transits pulling jets skis down the A3... and yes, I do judge. I do think that these are the guys who are going to be a menace. I apologise to the nice white transit / jet skiers owners who are responsible... but I think many of you are right scummers...
