A MHWS clearance is listed as 3.5 mts. But what height of tide constitutes MHWS.
I assume it must be greater than 7.5 mts.
I need to transit outwards with an air draft of 3.8 mts and a high water prediction of 7.1.( London Bridge) aiming to transit the Hammersmith an hour before HW.
Any thoughts on this?
I have been through many times but always on a lower HW prediction.

So what you want to know is how much clearance there will be under Hammersmith Bridge an hour before high water on a day when HW is predicted to be 7.1m ?

I spent ages writing out the figures but the bloody forum lost it twice.
Not doing it again
Clearance should be 3.6
I’d be looking at a different time or date if it was me

This why I delete my above post.....
A quick Google gives all the info for both Hammersmith and London bridges

I think I'm looking at leaving Richmond as soon as there is enough water on the downstream side and hopefully getting to Hammersmith with enough clearance . It means pushing the tide for a bit longer than usual.
But also having the ebb further down river.

Be careful with Hammersmith bridge as it is well known that it is liable to suddenly collapse in a spectacular chain reaction type of event.

Be prepared for this.

Try not to touch it even with a whip aerial as the lightest of contacts could cause a catastrophic failure killing dozens of innocent children.

You would not want this on your conscience so just be very cautious.

Have a nice boat trip.

“Hopefully “ is not the best way to go. Especially if we are talking bridge clearances on a rising tide.
Better to work it out and be sure.

Hopefully it all goes well for you.

It was me !
The top 12" of OGs VHF aerial has quantity of unslightly tape not very successfully holding it sort of vertical after an encounter with "Ammersmiff" bridge.
Do not recall it collapsing in a heap as we hurridly continued down stream.
It was still standing on a subsequent visit when we guiltly crept under hopefully unobserved.
