Hamble bridge

Well, I know I can't get under when it's a full tide - Sealine C39. Planning to articulate/hinge the mast, should give me a better window to get past it.

I know of a couple of people that have had their comings together with it -however, I will spare their blushes.

Ahhh you sound just like I did before I got there the first time, honestly as Ive said in my PM to you its really not a problem at all, every time I go under it I think of the £££££ ive saved over my MDL berthing fees, the upper Hamble is a beautiful place compared to where I was before. Just dont expect to get under at HW springs.

Word has it, that Sealine themselves took out the radar arch off of
one of their bigger Sportscruisers, in the days when their offices
were upstream of the bridge.

well

Has anybody had any "interesting" moments getting under the Hamble bridge?

I have heard of,

Navigation light,

radar domes,

radar masts,

Radar arches,

windscreens,

and even the top of one of the first hard top sports cruisers, [ spoke to the guy who was on the bathing platform as that one happened]

All being knocked off under that bridge.

and have seen it when people get it wrong with the tide and get pined again the arches side on.

So respect is needed but compared with the amount of times boats go under that bridge, its pretty low odds.

S48 did look nice without the top on, looked like a big open speedboat!

Its Bridge clearance, its sited just before the pontoon on the right before the bridge the pontoon runs parallel with premiers yard, its easy to spot, just as you turn to starboard with the Jolly Salor on your left its there, as I do, if I see number 4, its ok for me thats the 4 metre mark of bridge height, its marking are red and white, well sort of ****ty green!.

Often had to give ''full wellie' to gain that extra 6" at Hw springs, but last saturday the river was extra high and helming from below in the rain it was too close to call. Turned upstream but could not even get under the port side of the railway bridge. As there is a double stand at hw springs [which coincides with sat. midday] i gave up.
