Hadleigh Automotive, Benfleet

There has been a car dealers on that site for decades. In 2001 it was run by Hadleigh Autos Ltd who I wouldn't have trusted at all (personal knowledge of the owner) but that company has now been dissolved. I reckon this is under different ownership so it's just like any dealer -they buy cars through the trade on which they think they can make a good turn and get away with 6 month warranty. Buyer beware.

Thanks Moody Sabre - I suspect nothing much has changed since as there appears to be two 'companies' marketing (Osborne/ebay & Hadleigh/online) from the same address - not a lot of detail and different pricing. Car looks OK but just gave me bad vibes, hence the post.

Sailorman - thanks Roger for the link but only looking to spend sub 2k at the most (I'm pretty sure they wouldn't accept my current car as a trade-in ).

Preference is to go Honda Civic again - 2004/5 (or later) CTDi 5 door with hopefully less than 90k on the clock.

Pardon me for sticking my nose in but if you spend £2k on a car at a dealer aren't you paying paying 2k for a 1k car with a short £150 aftermarket warranty?

No problem.

Can't quite see that logic if the dealer seller price is in line (or even slightly cheaper) with those been offered privately.

Don't mind if it's a dealer or private - but there aren't that many decent diesel Civics in Suffolk/ N.Essex/S.Norfolk at my price point with relatively low mileage.

If you know of a good private one please let me know. :encouragement:

Lying crooks.
Sold me a car, sent it back to them a few times for problems (I don't know enough about cars to diagnose myself), they kept returning it saying 'no problems'. After 2 months took it to independent garage who diagnosed it as a blown head gasket. Based on the timescales of my first problems, and investigating the signs after, it quite clearly had the problem when I was sold the car. Spoke to Osborne's, they became rude and aggressive and said if I pursued it they would just get the garage they use to say it was 100 working when they sold it.

Aside from that it leaked, the back window intermittently worked, and it had bad electrics on the stereo.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE.

Many thanks for that.

I did a fair bit of googling but missed that.
