Had to post this…..Brent Swain

Whilst he has a point about varnished woodwork on the exterior, not for me. Be easier to buy something that floats and modify it. How about this one, extending the stern of a tri whilst living on a sand bank. Be much quicker to do the refit than build an Origami yacht.

Trimaran Dawn

They have just crossed the Atlantic on her, an interesting series with a down to earth budget.

…….good looking boats

You might try reading the Sailnet forum (amongst others) where Swain's design technology and naval architecture skills are subject to professional examination, and found wanting.

He's an interesting case - if he just did what he does and didn't run his mouth off, he'd get a lot more respect - the problem is that the talk doesn't fit well with the reality.

I meant it caused conversation on the forum…..

Rather it causes consternation that anyone could still think Swain designs or builds sensible boats.

From the photos of his boats they seem quite normal I have to admit consternation seems a bit strong, reading about the man he does seem to raise a few hackles
Well, if you read back through the 39,000 pages of the Steel Boats thread from a few years back, you'll understand why.
