Does any one have information on Gypsy II boats, owners clubs, associations or even own one. I would be glad to hear from you as I am looking at buying one.

Hello, fellow gypsy lover, I bought one three years ago, sad affair, rotten from the decks up, have spent two years rebuilding. lovely boat to sail/motor, have new cabin completely, made single hatch not double, big double berth across the boat, two single aft, nice wide teak decks, no association, it did not get off the ground, maybe looking to sell next season though! e mail me for more info...paul

I have never owned one but there are a few moored near me.Apparently they have a history of the plywood decks and superstructure rotting, as Padsco has confirmed,

Take a very carefull look at your intended purchase and have your findings confirmed by a surveyor.

Their reputation is of a strong roomy cruising boat ,not very fast ,able to dry out on bilgekeels, most had diesel engines.

I have a friend who owns one, he sails from Lyme Regis and is not averse to Channel hopping in it, mostly single-handed.(His wife catches the ferry!) It is quite seaworthy for its size, having a 12hp diesel it is more of a small motor sailer than an out and out sailing yacht. I think his is all GRP and was built in Falmouth.

Your right , survey recomended, i did not have one as I could see the state it was in, having re-furbed before.

Cliff, forgot to say last night, I do have the original PBO write up on the mk1 gypsy, send or email adress I will copy and post to you, good luck in your search, prices range from £2750 to £7500 for a re-furbed re-engined model. regards
