Gunfleet Wind Farm - first turbine installed

Re: Nuclear power IS the answer!

The plans for the Power Station at Bradwell are for a 16,000mW reactor. Makes the 164 mW of the Turbines a bit of a joke.

The plans also include a completely new wharfe at Bradwell, along with a Bradwell-Mersea ferry service. Plus 2,500 jobs during the construction phase falling to 600 jobs when in full commission.

However, Bradwell isn't the favourite site - they are leaning towards a Sizewell 3 at the moment.

Re: Nuclear power IS the answer!

Oxfordshire may be a red herring. The thing has to be on the coast (for several reasons including cooling), and preferably where our predominant SW winds will take accidental wind-borne output away from large areas of civilisation. The plans also include the extension of the Railway from Southminster, and new road construction too.

As I said, Bradwell is not the front runner site. However British Energy state that they need to build four 16,000mW plants in the south east over the next ten years, just to cope with existing demand.
